It works fine. Well, the "official" way of doing this is to delete your ~/.bash_profile and reinstall the "base-files" package (or simply "cp -p /etc/defaults/etc/skel/.bash_profile ~"). Alternatively, you can simply "ln -s ~/.bashrc ~/.bash_profile".
