The CYGWIN variable still exists and is used, if you explicitly set it, but has never been an indicator of whether a particular .exe was linked with cygwin or not. > How can we know if a Windows execution is > under CygWin now?? I assume this is your app determining if some other .exe is linked against cygwin (since you should already know whether your app is a cygwin app).
