ssh keeps asking password

Is it correct that if I copy my $(LOCALHOME)/.ssh/identity.pub to my
$(REMOTEHOME)/.ssh/authorized_keys ssh should not ask for a password? 

Both local (Windows 2000) and remote ( Linux RH 6.2) are running OpenSSH
2.3.0p1
