This may or may not be relevant, We have recently upgraded our Virus scanner to McAfee
Virus Scan 4.5 from 4.x. our build of > 200 files has now slowed by
a factor of 5-10x. The only answer is to exit the scanner, The effect can be seen
using Task Manager, with the scanner active Make (and its sub processes)
get about 40% of the processor, and the Idle process the rest, exit this scanner and
Make get 100%. The source directory and Tools directories are both
excluded from the scanner.
