Starting apps from the bach shell

Hi Larry,
How does batch.exe work? More precisely, how do I make bash knowing an
existence of a particular
application, (i.e. emacs or word97 etc.)

Therefore I could just type a name of the apps in my home directory. =3D
(i.e. c:/cygwin/home/ycc1/, I made HOME=3D3DC:/cygwin/home/ycc1/)
