Hmm...

To quote from /usr/doc/Cygwin/python-2.1.README (presumably already on
your hard disk since Cygwin Python is automatically installed when you
run Cygwin's setup.exe):

    The Python source builds OOTB under Cygwin.  Hence, the source has
    *not* been modified in any way.
