How to cut/paste text between windows and cygwin/xfree86 applications?

I am running win2k, with latest cygwin. I installed xfree86 4.1 (latest), which btw, 
is really great!

suppose I have some windows application, say a notepad, and I have vi open in an xterm 
in cygwin/xfree86.

How can I cut/paste some text from notepad into vi?
