I understand that convicted crypto-criminal Jim Bell -- of US News and World Report domestic-terrorist-photo fame -- is going to be released from prison in Phoenix, Arizona in two or four weeks. (He reportedly thinks that he should have been out already and The Man has cheated him out of time served, but I digress.) Tentative release date is April 16, but releases supposedly happen on Fridays -- so he estimates 10 am April 14. Bell is planning a Cypherpunk World Tour that will take him through -- in this order, as I understand it -- Seattle, Boston, New York, and Washington DC. Seattle, he hopes, will be fun. "When I'm not in handcuffs, I've been in Seattle three or four times." He plans to go to his MIT class reunion June 1-4 and reportedly would be beyond delighted to meet with cypherpunks in the area or anywhere in between. He promises important news upon his release. "The kind of thing that a reporter would practically kill to get a copy of." -Declan
