In theory, we're going to have a fundraiser for John at DCSB. We've been
threatening to, but not "terroristically" enough, I guess, ;-), for a very
long time. We even threatened to do one last month, but I hadn't had time
to do a proper drum-banging for it, much less get it organized properly,
and I pulled the plug on it.
Of course, that's just an excuse for a party. :-).
If you want to actually Just Send John Money, it's pretty easy to do, his
address is on cryptome somewhere, I think.
And, though I keep telling him to get an account named "Cryptome" for such
things, in the meantime, I bet he'll still take checks payable to "John
Young" just fine...
In addition, maybe, we'll threaten, terroristically or not, to have a DCSB
fundraiser for cryptome early this fall. I'd like to, anyway. Last time we
did something like this organized, we got about 100 folks in the room for
free munchies and a cash bar, plus the odd rant from the odd person, and
collected almost $8k, payable directly the EFF. (I figure for that, John
could set up a "cryptome" account in a bank somewhere, but, maybe not...)
So, contact me if you or your company would like to sponsor this event,
though, fair warning, sponsorship of a DCSB Fundraiser (paying for said
room, groceries, and staff for said cash bar) is a literal rathole, unless
you can write it off as marketing somehow.
For obvious reasons, I expect that actual companies are going to want to
stay away from sponsoring this one outright, but you never know...
Cheers,
RAH
