Hi, Firstly, thanks to whoever saw my last message and helped me subscribe. I've got a question: why do so many of the messages (in the hyperarchive anyway) have CDR: in front of their subject? Is this some kind of anti-spam filtering thing or something? After getting into work this morning and finding a whole bunch of spam sent to this list I've been busy filtering off everything that comes to me via [EMAIL PROTECTED] into a separate folder. The problem is that I'll still see the spam when I look into the folder, and I'm sure that this must affect anybody who reads this list. Perhaps we should set up some kind of `authenticator' on the messages so that spam can be filtered out, either at the user's end or by the main server. It doesn't have to be secure to work; we could agree to embed the word CarrotFacedMonkey in every message. Bots that have just read the address from somewhere would not know this, and the messages would be filtered. Some provision would have to be made for newcomers to be notified of this if they tried to post (like I did yesterday). This would work best if the filtering was done on the server - messages that didn't contain the magic authenticator would be sent an automatic reply explaining that their message was filtered and that they should do this and that to enable their posts to work. What do you think? Gary ____________________________________________________________ My real email address is embedded in my public key: 85A8F78B 6646 CF68 DEA8 07CA CA64 C18C A150 FC2D 85A8 F78B
