so, trying to make xapian build,
i cleaned it all and reconfigured with a build folder and did find -name
closefrom.cc, this file _is_ in xapian-core/common, but is _not_ in
xapian-applications/omega/.common.git . also, there are some broken
symlinks, maybe meant for a different shell interpretor or something no
idea

looks like .common.git is 868606fb1ecb2ba00637d75582f440e13ddc15fc
(manuall typed likely typos) from 2023-07-21
whereas my tree is v1.4.26 a year later (53c4d50 ...) jul 17 2024
so that's what's up! it's using an older clone that doesn't have that file
yet
it's likely made by ./bootstrap uncertain
