Actually, Jim and Sandy are both missing the root reference, 
a Monty Python sketch entitled "How not to be seen".

Of course, 'not standing up' is shown to be ineffective, 
since the narrator procedes to blow up every object 
behind which the subject may be 'not standing up'.
