Swiss warheads for Bulgarian missiles
Upgraded versions of Russian-designed anti-armor and anti-bunker weapons are being offered by Swiss company RUAG Munition in conjunction with Bulgarian missile producer Vazovski Mashinostroitelni Zavod (VMZ). According to a RUAG representative at the SOFEX exhibition held in Jordan in September, the two companies began working together on adaptations of the 3,000m-range Malyutka 9M14 (AT-3 Sagger) and 2,500m-range Faktoria 9M111M (AT-4B Spigot) anti-tank missiles in December 2001.

BAE Systems has held an industry day to brief contractors on the procurement strategy for the British Army's major Indirect Fire Precision Attack (IFPA) programme.

French Army's 'space bubble' aims to rule the battlefield
A senior official of France's Delegation Generale pour l'Armement (DGA) procurement agency has provided more details of the Bulle Operationnelle Aeroterrestre (BOA, Air Ground Operational Bubble) concept that is intended to determine the future structure and equipment of the French Army.

Fennek vehicle goes into production
Production of the Fennek 4 x 4 reconnaissance vehicle is now under way. First deliveries will be made to the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) in mid-2003.

Canada clamps down on stress
Canadian soldiers who served with the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry battle group in Afghanistan have been undergoing a 'decompression period' on the South Pacific island of Guam before returning home as a way to combat stress (Jane's Defence Weekly 10 July). It is one initiative the Canadian Forces (CF) have taken up since coming under fire earlier this year for not doing enough to help soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
