QANTAS must hand over details of Australian passengers for FBI screening
under tough new US laws.
US Customs has the power to demand access to passenger lists as part of
their anti-terrorism measures. The names and details of thousands of
passengers may be used by the FBI to screen for potential terrorists and
security risks and to track passenger movements.
After initial demands that plastic knives for airline meals be removed, the
US is now allowing metal knives without serrated blades back on board.
