A group of Greenpeace activists chained themselves to gear aboard a freighter at Port Melbourne yesterday, vowing to prevent it unloading what they said was a cargo of genetically engineered (GE) soybeans.
A team of 15 boarded the freighter Despina from the United States as it was docking about 4.30pm and locked themselves on to gear used to open the ship's holds and unload cargo, Greenpeace spokeswoman Ellen Stuebe said.
