BSI2000, Inc. (OTCBB: BSIO) designs and builds secure identification and transaction systems that use LaserCard® optical cards for clients and applications all over the world.
Applications include Site Access Control and Site Security, Employee Tracking, Secure Identification Cards, and others.
Optical cards are the same size and shape as standard credit cards but hold four megabytes -- about 1,500 typewritten pages -- of updateable digital information in a secure, inexpensive, and compact personal package. Update Records may be written to the card at any time as information changes or is added to the card.
Optical cards provide approximately 1,000 times the storage capacity and 30 times the update speed of "smart" or "chip" cards. Optical cards are far more reliable than all other card technologies as they are not susceptible to damage by static electricity, stray magnetic fields, or cosmic rays -- the recorded data is virtually indestructible with normal usage. Undetected error rates are in the one-per-trillion bit range.
BSI2000 optical card systems employ advanced biometrics -- fingerprint, signature, iris and retinal scan, facial recognition, etc. -- to provide automatic machine identification of cardholders. The systems also assure secure transactions by automatically displaying cardholder photographs whenever a transaction is started. The BSI2000 systems employ recognized and special proprietary cryptographic methods to protect the data recorded on cards from being read or modified by unauthorized means.
The United States (Green Cards, Border Crossing Cards), Italy (National ID Cards), Saudi Arabia (National ID Cards), and other countries have chosen optical cards for large-scale identification card projects over all competing technologies -- smart cards, magnetic stripe cards, and others. Over 10-million optical cards are in use in the United States alone -- worldwide project commitments to date approach 100-million cards by 2005.

Civilitas 2000
Civilitas -- Latin for Citizen -- perfectly describes the function of the Civilitas 2000 system.
The Citizen Card is a government issued card that records not only identification information such as name, addrress, age, sex, place of birth, etc. but also biometric information -- fingerprints, signatures, retina scans -- that automatically identify individuals based on permanent biological characteristics.
The system also stores a high-resolution color photograph of the cardholder that can be read and displayed in about a second. A complete Audit Trail of all uses is also automatically maintained on the card - Who, What, When, Where, Why, How....
Special Heuristic Software techniques allow automatic flagging of interesting people by noticing variances in travel or special travel characteristics.
The four-megabyte data capacity allows storage of identification, photo, multiple biometrics, medical records (emergency and full clinicals), social security/pension, border crossing, police records, and more in a single card -- and yet, civil liberties are preserved as all of the information can be stored on the card and not necessarily in a large central government database.
