It has weave examples, and it would be also great to have (possibly
more than one) Cython approaches explained as well.  I hope it's a
useful reference as you move forward.

Funny you should mention this--I actually wrote up a Cython version of that. It's as fast as the Pyrex version, but only requires the addition of a couple of lines lines to the raw Python and no other changes to the source.
