A note on that: What kept pyximport working for me was the need to add the numpy headers to the compilation. I can't remember why the numpy headers are in an odd place, but I think there are good reasons. anyway, as numpy is a common use-case, we could probably just add: numpy.get_numpy_include() somewhere, but it might be better to have a more general mechanism to add such things.
