IIRC, the STL name was deprecated after it was merged into the C++ 
standard, it is just part of the "C++ library" without a seperate name. 
References to STL are out of habit and because it started out as a 
seperate library.

Or I remember reading that, but can't find a reference. Since STL is in 
such widespread usage, I'm sure an STL namespace wouldn't hurt.
