Dear Ralph,

Additionally to the most valuable genealogical advice you received from Bruce,
let's have a look together into the Bukovinian Press of the interwar period:

https://www.difmoe.eu

If you'll search carefully for (Pinkas, P., urologist, etc.) Schapira, you will
discover numerous hits at DiFMOE; as an example (see attachments) just two from
the years 1926 and 1945:

1926-11-27 (Ostjüdische Zeitung): Dr. P. Schapira, former assistant to Prof.
[Robert] Lichtenstern of Vienna, opened his urological practice on Alexandru
cel Bun Street (Dr. Rottgasse) in Czernowitz.

1945-07-11 (Die Stimme): "Czernowitz urologist Dr. Schapira informs his son in
Nathania that he is in Bucharest."

I wish you success and numerous new discoveries while exploring the Bukovinian
press landscape. Warmest wishes!

Edgar Hauster [MacBook]

Dear Ralph,

There is an online index to many records, including vital records, from
Czernowitz.
Czernowitz.geneasearch.net

If you enter surname SCHAPIRA and given name begins with Pinkas, it will lead
you to the marriage record in 1924 of Pinkas Schmiel SCHAPIRA with Felicitas
MAYER. Using the results in the “details” link leads you to the precise record
on familysearch.org . Once you login with a free account on familysearch, then
cut and paste or click on this link:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS9B-7SB7-9?cat=1378569 . It
will lead you to a page with their marriage record written clearly in Romanian.

I think there are some other records that might interest you on the geneasearch
site, as well.

Good luck!

Bruce

Subject: [czernowitz-l] information on Paul Pinchas Schapira
I am seeking more information on my father's father, Paul Pinchas Schapira. He
was a urologist that was born in Czernowitz in 1895. His son (my father) was
Hans Erwin Schapira who escaped Romania in April 1944 by boat on the Moritza to
Istanbul then on by train to Haifa. My grandfather had two children (including
my father) and was married to Felicitas who was born in Austria.

Any information would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you.

Ralph Schapira
