Hi everyone, I have an English translation of my great grandfather's marriage certificate. He married in 1881 in Craiova, Romania and his name was Iosif Ehter or Hechter. Marriage certificate of Mr. Iosef Ehter young man of Jewish faith and of Austro-Hungarian nationality, 25 years old, born in Craiova in 1856 in Madona Dudu suburb; profession brush maker, lives in Craiova, Madona Dudu suburb. The adult son of the deceased Moise Ehter and Slata Ehter. And the rest of the certificate is his wife to be Rifca Flacs: And (certificate) of Ms. Rifca Flacs, young woman of Jewish faith and of Romanian nationality, 19 years old, born in Craiova in 1862, housewife, lives in Craiova Madona Dudu suburb. The minor daughter of Mr. Samoil Hers Flacs, 63 years old brush maker and Mrs. Sonia Flacs, 52 years old, housewife who live in Craiova, present and accepting the marriage contract.
I am especially interested in the term "of Austro-Hungarian nationality" and the name of his parents Moise Ehter and Slata (maiden name unknown). I want to continue the research to identify where Moise and Slata may have been born or lived or died. Can anyone do a search in databases that might lead to a find of a Ehter or Hechter somewhere in the Jewish community of the Austro Hungarian empire or point me to a site or sites to do further research? I have tried https://czernowitz.geneasearch.net/ and I see an Ignatz Hechter but not sure if there is any connection. With respect to his wife on the certificate it says she is of Romanian nationality. How does this differ with her husband who is of Austro Hungarian Nationality? As I would like to continue the search for where her parents may have come from too. Any help would be appreciated.
