I can also confirm they were cattle cars.  My mother and father, maternal 
grandparents, aunts and uncles, were all transported to Transnistria (Mogilev) 
in 1941 by cattle cars.  Three years later, 3 grandparents had died, several 
aunts and uncles had died.  My mother and the one remaining grandmother also 
walked home to Czernowitz in 1944.  My father was immediately taken to the 
Russian Army directly from Mogilev.
