Hi Czernowitzers, You may remember that I'm trying to add branches to my family tree and have been reasonably successful with branches in the US. As I was going through old notes from my late father, I found one where he was asking me to find out, possibly on the internet, what happened to the various families related to us that lived in what is now Ukraine. So, in Tarnopol (Ternopil), there were the Kanner, Wartenfeld, and Auerhahn families. In Lemberg (Lwow/Lviv): there were the Patatof, Schoenholtz, and Thieberger families.
My father advised me to get in touch with the following organizations: United Tarnopoler Relief (151 Clinton SAtreet, NY) United Galcien Jews of America (175 5th Ave, NY) Sonderstandesamt Internationaler Suchdienst in Arolsen, Germany The problem with finding out something is that I only have the family names, no given name of anyone, so this is really very generic. The expectation is that most if not all the members of the aforementioned families have perished in the Holocaust because they lived where they lived at the wrong times. Has anyone encountered any of these names?
