Czernowitzers… Stage 2 of my this year‘s motorcycle ride east-southeastbound.
"Shut up, or you'll go to Bautzen." was the phrase used in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) if you dared to make a joke about the regime. Bautzen II prison, infamous as a "Stasi Jail" is still there as a memorial, but today Bautzen shows its best side. The more than 1000-year-old city of [17!] towers, on a granite plateau high above the Spree Valley, has spruced itself up and is celebrating the "Budyske nalěćo - Bautzen Spring" in the German-Sorbian tradition: <https://hauster.blogspot.com/2023/05/budyske-naleco-bautzen-spring-742-km.html> [AFGJ81oS3U2KDfezs_wvCCULZjY_7gMgp_02MAEdarYjnTg3P9-OwSabu5UysJUSd_lwmfXlCh2KtmT4MzOczm1hqJ7dK1bKFg=w1200-h630-p-k-no-nu.png] Budyske nalěćo • Bautzen Spring (742 km)<https://hauster.blogspot.com/2023/05/budyske-naleco-bautzen-spring-742-km.html> hauster.blogspot.com<https://hauster.blogspot.com/2023/05/budyske-naleco-bautzen-spring-742-km.html> <https://www.komoot.de/tour/1127921387?ref=itd&share_token=adoxsMPcNydklath99kZzLk8O0S08TlSA0u8SpEHtTxQ2VhpGZ> [1883b2c412a.jpeg] 2023-05-20/21 Budyske nalěćo • Bautzener Frühling (742 km) | Tour | Komoot<https://www.komoot.de/tour/1127921387?ref=itd&share_token=adoxsMPcNydklath99kZzLk8O0S08TlSA0u8SpEHtTxQ2VhpGZ> komoot.de<https://www.komoot.de/tour/1127921387?ref=itd&share_token=adoxsMPcNydklath99kZzLk8O0S08TlSA0u8SpEHtTxQ2VhpGZ> Of all the bands on the numerous open air stages, I was most excited by the Banda Comunale from Dresden. Who would have thought that Bautzen has so much to offer; not me! Check it out on YouTube! Onward to the east!
