Like the DOS Window, it'll never go away. There are too many products out there that rely on it, and MS would be shooting itself in the foot. Not that they aren't capable of stupid decisions, but I think we can count on ODBC being around for the long haul. Even if it isn't installed by default, there will be an installer for it. If, after we have ODBC working, someone wants to get ADO working on Windows, great, but we need to have a base fallback, and in my experience, ODBC is it.
