I think it is a bad practice to re-implement the dbapi. Dabo is
using dbapi-compliance as the basis for the data access. You seem to
want to run an end-around this spec.
I say stick with dbapi. If there are problems with specific
backends, contact those vendors and work with them to fix their
products.
