I think that was pretty much in the spirit of open source, and I'm
perfectly happy to invest some time and write some code. I'm just glad
we ruled out that first approach as a dead end before I followed it too
far :-)

I have to disagree with that - I'm coming from a PythonCard (and Runtime
Revolution) background, so the last thing I want to do is do it all in code.
