A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

The messenger has come to prepare the way of the Lord. We know what
we have to do; and we've been working on this over the last few weeks
of Advent, right?

During this season of Advent we've been preparing our hearts for the
coming of Christ. It is during this preparation that we should have
declared war on sin within ourselves; if not, there is still time.

If we could but look at two or three areas of sin within ourselves
and pray for God's grace to overcome these, we would be fulfilling
the great message of the messenger John: to reform our lives, to
repent and prepare the way for the Lord, for His grace to enter our
hearts.

If we do not recognize our own shortcomings how can we recognize the
voice of God? If we do recognize our sins and faults, then we have
humbly taken the first step. Then we will see and hear God's message,
for He shows the humble His way to sanctity.

Jesus, you guide the humble to yourself,
Help us Lord, to heal one another
through your love of us. Amen!
