DANE had a one hour meeting. doc-status: - 2 WG documents advanced to IESG DANE-SMTP DANE-SRV - 1 document in WGLC OPENPGPKEY - 2 documents pending a WGLC RSN.
We had discussion about a document that are proposing new things that use dane for payment systems. Most of the WG time was spent on a issue raised during the WGLC on OPENPGPKEY document. The discovery/search of actual email address of the receiver. This is an old problem that affects all e-mail. We had a fruitful discussion with number of e-mail people providing information and thoughts. The sense of the room is that this is a big problem but not one that DANE should be addressing. The group will take under advisement how to focus the document to express that the approach in the document is Opportunistic, i.e. sender looks up the address it has and does no other search. DANE has another document that is about OPENPGPKEY-USAGE document and will have some description on how to improve the probability of finding a OPENPGPKEY record. The working group is updating its milestones, thus right now is a good time submit new work for consideration.
