A friend of mine works at a chicken processing plant and talked to
the managers about me buying chicken from them. I get my necks,
backs, and carcasses for $.10 a pound and my wings for $.30 a pound.
We had to buy a new freezer and also a new refrigerator. We buy
about 240 lbs at a time, freeze it in freezer bags and take it out
daily and put it in the refrigerator to defrost. Right now we are
feeding 2 veggie/rice meals a week with a little hamburg in it to get
them to eat. They are all doing well and we are finally adjusting to
the routine. Feeding 11 on Barf is a challenge.
Sandy,
I need to know how you feed 11 danes on BARF. I would really like to switch
mine over, but I just can't figure out the logistics. It seems my whole
basement would have to be a deep freeze. Please pass along your method and
where you get things.
