Hi All,
Just wanted to give you all an update on Joyce and how things are going.
Unfortunately things are still so unsettled around there. They were just
issued a building permit, ONLY 3 months after the hurricane. They have had
to battle more red tape then I have ever thought imaginable to get the
smallest things accomplished towards rebuilding their lives. I want to
thank all of you that have sent items to her recently, she is so
appreciative of it all. The cards, donations, and baskets of goodies have
gone such a long way to help lift their spirits.
They have been struck with another loss though, and right before the
holidays makes things even more depressing. Last Friday night they had
another rain storm go through. They have all their dogs back with them, and
have them seperated in other small back rooms off the shop they are living
in. Their 6 year old girl "Star" was and has been very restless,
wanting to run continuously to the house to go in it....and of course they
can't go in it....
She is one of the 4 that stayed with friends while Joyce was at her mothers
for 6 weeks.
The rain terrifies some of her dogs now....and having the heavy down pours
hit the roof like they did 3 months ago....this girl just stressed herself
out. They rushed her to the vet , try to tube her, didn't even take an
xray...just went straight into surgery, the surgery went well and
she made it out of there okay. She was home a day and began to deteriorate,
went into shock and died. Joyce is devastated once more, she has never
had a dog bloat, and has had danes for over 20 years. She just feels all
the shuffling and stress is taking it's toll, and to have the rain freak
them out like it does.....was just more then this poor girl could handle.
So say a prayer once more for all of them.....hopefully they will have
brighter skies in the new year.....
Sorry to dampen the spirit of the season, it just makes all of us really
appreciate what we have even more. All of you enjoy the holidays and thank
you for all of your help in getting Joyce and her family back on their feet.
