So perhaps .darcs_data or .darcs_repository.
Since it was slightly implied by the original poster, let me
recommend against ._darcs. Mac OS X uses those ugly names to store
metadata on non-HFS filesystems (so you'll have a MacFile
and ._MacFile), so there would be potential for confusion with dot-
underscore .
