Yeah, that should work I guess. But I want incremental backups and it
seems a bit unnecessary to both tar up the pristine tree and the
patches since the former can be gotten back by applying all the
latter?
Oh, I didn't realize you wanted incremental backups. Antti-Juhani's
solution is more appropriate then. You should be careful if you're
using only incremental backups; if one fails (e.g. gets corrupted),
all the backed-up patches afterward would be useless. Taking a full
snapshot every now and again would lessen this possibility.
