Sorry to follow up on myself, but darcs 2.1.0 does trap these does not exist errors: http://bugs.darcs.net/issue770 Also the issue784 bug claims that fixing this particular error does not completely solve the problem. If you run darcs from the DOS prompt, even with more.com as less.exe, you still get the error.
