If there's a reasonable way to fix that, go ahead -- patches welcome.
Anyhow, I'd like to see Cabal as the default build method for 2.3. Yesterday, lispy asked me whether I really want to remove the configure one and I said this: "Well, if someone volunteers to maintain it, sure, but I won't hold it against anyone if it falls apart." You can probably consider that as official policy for 2.3. Either way, the torch is now in Kowey's hands -- the development will happen in the darcs.net repository of course. I will send in a few cabal fixes, hopefully later today.
