In particular, I note that all files in the bytestring-mmap repo have:
Stability : provisional
Portability: non-portable -- posix only
are either of these a cause for concern? Is our existing NIH mmap
implementation used on Windows? (I assume Windows' POSIX support isn't
adequate for "posix only".)
