Replying on darcs-users, which I think is current policy, since I'm not sure how much discussion is involved here - Isn't there *something* useful we can do with this issue ? I would not close it yet, because I consider it a bug that darcs reports a message like "bug in get_extra commuting patches" when the user tries to do something that to their mind seems perfectly reasonable (pulling between two similar-looking repos).
