I get this error trying to build darcs from hackage:
cabal: cannot configure HTTP-4000.1.2. It requires base >=3 && <4.5

$ cabal install --verbose=3 darcs
I've solved using:
$ cabal install darcs -fbase44
but frankly I haven't investigated the downsides of that flag (if any).
