I think you need to create a directory somewhere but i'm not sure where...

do you know how to debug C code ?

if yes, try to run darktable with "--g-fatal-warnings"
this will make DT crash whenever one of these warnings appear. At that
point you can use gdb to debug or at least provide us with a backtrace
