I know the pb you mentionned.
To avoid that, there's a "step" at "zoom to fit" level :
exemple : 75% > 65% > 55%(FIT) > 55%(FIT) > 45% > ... but in the other way : 45% > 55%(FIT) > 65% > ...

So when scrolling down with the mouse wheel, for exemple, it's easier to "stop" at the "zoom to fit" level. btw, if the step is not "large" enought, I can "enlarge" it.

I hope you understand what I've said. otherwise you'll have to test ;)

Also, while having less than fitting zoom could be useful in other ways... I find it annoying to be able to do by default.

I find it really convenient that scrolling down "blocks" at zoom-to-fit most of the time...

It might be an idea to add a preferences options for this behavior?
