No, definitely not.

If one wants to apply this on a larger scale, both is necessary.  I
don't write C well enough.  And I cannot reproduce easily DT's
Hermite interpolation in Python.

I came to a conclusion for me.  I updated
http://wilson.homeunix.com/basecurve/ from point "4. Test the
result" onwards.
