Gimp is your answer ... not darktable. You are looking at multi-layer post processing rather than non-distructive processing.

This is progress and makes sense.  Now we can surmise that the original post is connected to the hope that Darktable can do similar things to Lightroom with regard to real estate photography.  And in general the answer is a simple yes.

Perhaps the original poster, Michael, could step back in and focus the question tightly enough that a paragraph or two could address it?
