There is one caveat. The main performance improvement in this context has been the implementation of guided filter on GPU. The guided filter has huge memory requirements. In your example it needs about 5GB of VRAM for export. As there is no support for tiling in the GPU code it will fall back to slow CPU processing if memory is too tight. You should be fine with your 6GB card, though.
