I recently upgraded to Mac OS Catalina.
The version of darktable I had wouldn't allow me to open or access files. I
tried making a change to the security preferences to allow dt access to all
files. This didn't help.

Next, I installed the latest version of dt (3.2.1). Now, I can't get dt to
run at all. I get two dialogs, but they fail and then dt quits.

The first dialog says: "We have an updated performance configuration
logic..." with 'Yes / No buttons. Whether I click Yes or No, I then get a
second dialog which says "the database schema has to be upgraded for
.../,config/darktable/library.db do you want to proceed or quit now to do
ao backup", with buttons 'close darktable' and 'upgrade database'. Again,
it doesn't matter which button I click, darktable closes.

I tried double clicking on the executable file, and found the following
messages in the terminal window that opened:
(1) - before clicking the 'Yes' button at the first dialog:

(process:1553): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 18:06:59.009: g_object_set:
assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(2) after clicking 'Yes':

[defaults] found a 64-bit system with 8388608 kb ram and 4 cores (0 atom
based)
[defaults] setting high quality defaults

(3) after clicking 'upgrade database':

[init] can't prepare insertion of used tags into data database
[init] table data.tags has no column named icon
[init] database `library.db' couldn't be upgraded from version 12 to 30.

...completed.

Is there any way a 'simple' GUI user can install dt now and open it on Mac
OS 10.15?
If there is a way I can rebuild the database (I don't care about any
presets or old xmp files), perhaps that would help, but I do not have the
first clue how I would go about that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Graham
