Shut down darktable. Open your config file (~/.config/darktable/darktablerc). Look for 'opacity' and 'density'. plugins/darkroom/masks/opacity=1.000000 plugins/darkroom/masks/brush/density=1.000000 plugins/darkroom/spots/brush_density=1.000000 I think the last of those is what you're looking for; set it to 1.
