those presets are indeed camera-specific. They are produced by making some test shots at all possible settings, then extracting the coefficients from the raw files. https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/wiki/White-balance-presets
Note that this is only useful if you use the old white balance workflow — if you use the modern color-calibration-based workflow, then those presets are irrelevant.
