Yes, the data is specific to a sensor size.
If you want your lens to be recognized, you need to create the data.
If you happen to find a lens with exactly the same characteristics, you could copy the data adapting the fields related to your lens.
It was my case with the Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AIS similar to the AF one.

Without claiming to be an expert in these matters I am quit convincedthat the lens corrections are specific to the sensor dimension which is
why the crop factor is part of the file.
