In a way it would probably ease up life for "just users"
compared to experts.

However, I fear I have to report that I still get openCL
grayed out in the settings even with this code change.
Considering me as one of the non-experts just mentioned, is
there a way I could be of help here? I'm pretty sure that
this part worked back some time ago on a box running Debian
stable.
