I would like to resurrect this topic:

DT 1.1, or exactly, "shadows and highlights" show how this
auto-adjustment-topic might be solved in a satisfactory manner:
By simply adding a slider to adjust the strength of the
auto-adjustment. This way, the oversaturation might be lowered if required.
