Hi, I checked your file here with current git master. And yes, it can not be opened correctly. The same is true BTW for ufraw and dcraw.
So in the end it's true what darktable says: the file is corrupted (unexpected end of file). The fact that you can open it with other viewers may be due to the fact that a thumbnail is found in the uncorrupted part. That's also the reason why darktable can show an icon in lighttable mode.
